Google Vs. Yahoo

Google and Yahoo, as the two biggest search engines in the world, took two different approaches in terms of their user experience. Whether you prefer Google or Yahoo, both search engines can teach us something about user experience.

Google
Google’s search engine is clear, simple, with one search bar in the middle and sometimes Google doodle above it. Google made a decision to have a clear homepage with no ads or suggestions on it at all, making it clean and elegant. As a result, from searching to receiving the results, the experience is fast and smooth. Google made their search engine simple, fast, and fun.

Yahoo

Yahoo, on the other hand, has a home page with a search bar at the top and suggestions of sites and categories at the bottom and to the side. The users can customize their own homepage with topics they are interested in. Yahoo often changes parts of their user experience—too often. Sometimes, it’s better to go slow and small. So two things about Yahoo: it traded off speed for personal experience, which isn't necessary bad, but it should consider going slow and making small changes one at a time.
